42:Women of Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone in West Africa is ranked by the United Nations as one of the poorest countries on Earth. Though peace has returned to a country brought to its knees by brutal civil war from 1991 to 2002, Sierra Leone remains shattered and broken, with abject poverty and high unemployment.
Women are trying to rebuild their lives claim their rights and work towards a future, yet too many still suffer inequality, brutality, hardship and despair. Life expectancy for women is around 42.
