From the Margin to the Mainstream

From the Margin to the Mainstream

RISC's current project began in 2008 and was funded by DfID, and builds on RISC’s successful work in partnership with schools across Oxfordshire and Berkshire. Over the three years we will be working in partnership with 5 Local Authorities (Reading, Bracknell Forest, Windsor & Maidenhead, Wokingham and West Berkshire) and the Diocese of Oxford to raise the profile of Global Citizenship and embed it in their training programmes for teachers, teaching assistants and governors.

Existing good practice has been developed, showcased and disseminated between schools across each of the local authorities, to inspire the development of further work; and a Self-Evaluation Framework has been created for schools to evaluate their own progress towards embedding Global Citizenship education of the highest quality.

Some examples of achievements:

Training for Governors in all Local Authorities

Global Citizenship Advocates Courses run for Local Authorities and the Diocese of Oxford

Training for clusters of schools, for example in Wokingham and West Berkshire.

Exhibitions celebrating Global Citizenship delivery published for each Local Authority and the Diocese of Oxford, launched at wider network conferences and meetings.
