Sea Holly

Apparently East Anglians in the 17th and 18th century would candy this plant to use anaphrodisiac - it looks a bit pickly to me!
I have spotted it growing wild on Aberdyfi beach near where I live in Wales. Its fine roots help bind together ans stabilise sand dunes
