RISC offers a flexible suite of conference rooms which can be hired singularly or together. They are available for all uses however there are special rates for community and not for profit organisations. See Charges

The combination of a large conference room and smaller meeting spaces means makes it an ideal venue for conferences or training programmes which combine plenary and workshop sessions. There is also the potential of access to the roof garden above. A small kitchen is available for preparing refreshments. RISC can provide lunches and Fair Trade tea and coffee by arrangement.

The ROOMS

Foyer Gallery
Large enough to house small exhibitions or receptions. It has a bar which makes it suitable for social functions in conjunction with the Conference Room (both rooms are covered by the RISC Global Cafe's alcohol licence).

Conference Room/ Main Hall
Large, light and airy space featuring a sprung maple floor which is ideal for dances! It is fully accessible for wheelchair users, seats up to 100 people for meetings and video screenings and accommodates 175 for social events such as discos. Spot lights and a flexible mounting system make the room ideal for exhibitions. (Size: 1000 sq. ft)

Meeting Room 1
is suitable for small meetings of up to 14 people (seated in a boardroom style). It has wheelchair access and can be blacked out for slide projection. (Size: 275 sq. feet)

'The Stones Room' provides a light airy space seating up to 30 people (seated in theatre style). It features stone archways recycled from Reading Abbey and discovered during renovation work, and stripped pine floorboards. It has wheelchair access. (Size: 375 sq. feet)

The Global Cafe-Bar
serves a variety of hot & cold dishes from around the world using organic, Fair Trade or locally produced ingredients where possible. It can provide refreshments for your events and is fully licensed.

  • Ask for a special form for booking the catering service or bar.
  • On Monday evenings (6-11pm) the Cafe can be hired for private use - AGMs/social gatherings etc. Maximum 90 people.
Other facilities
  • a foyer reception area, with a bar for evening functions in conjunction with the conference room.
  • a small kitchen for preparing refreshments
  • a toilet accessible to wheelchair users, with nappy changing facilities
  • limited parking to the rear of the building (by arrangement).
  • there is outside security lighting for people using the centre at night.
  • Equipment can also be provided: TV/video, slide projector, small PA, video projector and 8ft screen, overhead projector, flip charts, fax machine, photocopier. Please refer to list of charges.
