Bente has been involved with RISC since its earliest days and has been active in international solidarity, bringing in speakers from around the world, organising events and conferences throughout that time.

She has recently returned from a fact finding visit and study tour of Ethiopia and has travelled extensively in the developing world, including India and Nicaragua. Bente has a long term involvement with the Eco feminist movement, with leading luminaries of Maria Mees and Vandana Shiva, one of the world's most outspoken voices, skillfully communicating the most underheard perspective of all, those of the mainly female rural poor farmers who produce much of the food in developing nations.

Bente is active in Reading International Forum, an umbrella groupd of Reading based NGO's and organises their presence at the annual WOMAD festival at Rivermead in Reading.
