Reading International Solidarity Centre (RISC)
Reading's development education centre

Lindsey

Trustee

I first became involved in RISC through the local Greenpeace group, especially when it became part of the Reading International Development Forum, taking part in the One World Tent at WOMAD and organising events in the Reading International Festival.

I was impressed by the principles upheld by RISC and the hard-working and friendly people I met there. I am now quite heavily involved in the Forum, having been the Treasurer for the last few years, and more recently helping to organise the One World Tent and One World Platform, and painting new banners and decorative hangings for both. I also volunteer in the World Shop where I am amazed at the range of Fair-traded products, and enjoy the change from sitting in front of a computer all day.

My paid job is at Yell in Reading, and I am in the fortunate position to be able to work part time, leaving space in my life for involvement in RISC, and the occasional Open University course.
