RISC is home to one of the UK's largest Fair Trade shops. The shop sells all kinds of products from around the world - all sourced sustainably and ethically. On top of our range of fairly traded crafts and food we have an extensive book and resources shop covering global issues and representing Majority World authors.
The World Shop has a new range of fair trade crafts, food and sustainably sourced and ethically produced household items that will make perfect gifts to suit every pocket. Exciting new ranges include bamboo kitchenware, Moroccan cookware, refashioned glassware and jewellery, a selection of solar powered toys, recycled gadgetry, a colourful assortment of hand dipped candles and much much more!
“Fair trade really helps farmers and workers improve the quality of their lives and take more control over their futures. It means people can afford to send their kids to school or pay for healthcare. Making yours a fair trade Xmas will not only help you to live more sustainable lifestyles and create a more equitable world, but provide you with some absolutely beautiful presents for family and friends”.
Colin Date, shop volunteer and RISC trustee since its foundation in 1984
We try to stock a large variety of products so hopefully there is something for everyone! The shop owes a large part of its success to its team of hard working volunteers (if you are interested in volunteering please get in touch).
We are a member of BAFTS (The British Association for Fair Trade Shops). The world shop first started trading in 1987 when RISC was still at 103 London Street. RISC then moved to 35-39 London Street and of course the shop too moved where it has grown and continues to trade today.
We have changed quite a bit since we moved to 35-39!
