RISC is a registered charity. As such we have a board of trustees who are the directors of the charity:

Lorraine Cummings
I am a local primary school teacher and have worked closely with the RISC education team on their Global Schools initiative. I have actively supported RISC’s work for the past 10 years and love the Café!

I recently retired after many years as an Oxfam campaigner, working mostly on the Health and Education for All campaign. In addition I coordinated Send My Friend to School, the UK arm of the Global Campaign for Education. Based in South Africa, GCE campaigns for universal primary education by 2015. I continue to work with GCE UK as a volunteer.
For a while Oxfam had a regional office in the restored building in London Street and I got to know many of the collective. It is good to be back in touch with such an impressive bunch.

Sarah Gilbe
I first came to the global cafe as a struggling secretary looking for good coffee and a gossip somewhere I wouldn't run into my boss. My most recent encounter before becoming personally involved was on a course run by the Education Department in my capacity as a school Governor and I found the work being done and the things I was learning really interesting. I have always been interested in social justice so when I saw the ad for volunteers, I just had to get involved! As a qualified lawyer (and still a school governor) I hope that I have some skills that will be of use to the organisation, and when they are not, I can promise to be enthusiastic!
In my spare time I like to spend time with my vast book collection, my beautiful daughter, and going for long walks.

Rosie Siwal
I am excited about becoming a RISC trustee as the organisation provides such a vibrant and unique focal point for promoting important global issues and understanding in my local area. I am passionate about these issues having spent my whole career working in the international development sector and am hopeful that my specialism in funding may also prove of use over time!
