annual events organised by risc
Arising out of project work Reading became a Fairtrade Town on 2nd February 2004. RISC is part of the Reading Fairtrade Steering Group and Reading International Development Forum which organise the Reading Fairtrade Fortnight and Reading International Festival each year respectively.

Fair Trade Fortnight

Fairtrade Fortnight is a national campaign held in early spring each year by the Fairtrade Foundation and offers an opportunity for fairtrade events, publicity, meetings and exhibitions throughout the country. The Reading Fairtrade Steering Group organises activities in Reading each year to support the Fairtrade fortnight campaign.

Each year the campaign is themed to focus on important issues.

The programme highlights the many internationalist activities, twinning links and solidarity in Reading. The festival showcases positive examples of people changing the status quo by choosing to live and act to create a better world for all:

The Festival includes Black History Month and One World Week events.
